A shift at a station, step by step
- The roster for the location is planned with the competence each post needs; a lapsed card is visible before the person is booked.
- Book on at the station from the app shows on the live monitor with the time and position.
- A dropped shift is covered from the postcode search, filtered by card and transport.
- Incidents are typed in with photos and reviewed by the duty manager before they go to the operator.
- Book off closes the shift; hours feed payroll and the invoice for the contract.
Competence and compliance records
Rail work depends on competence that expires: Sentinel-managed PTS and track competences, medicals and drugs and alcohol screening, plus SIA licences where the role is licensable security. BOOK ON records each as a certificate with an expiry date on the person’s record, reports on what lapses when, and filters the cover search by it. Verification against Sentinel or another scheme’s register is confirmed during onboarding; BOOK ON records the result and the date of your check. Safety-critical rostering rules, such as fatigue limits, are applied by your planners from the roster reports.

Does BOOK ON connect to Sentinel?
Competence cards are recorded with their expiry dates and your check is logged against them. Automated verification against Sentinel is confirmed during onboarding.
Can the operator see attendance at each station?
Attendance and roster reports are produced per site and date and sent as PDF or export; a client login is confirmed during onboarding.
Does it manage fatigue and rest rules?
The roster reports show hours by person and date for your planners to apply the rules; automated fatigue scoring is not part of BOOK ON.
What about SIA-licensed rail security staff?
They use the same SIA licence tracking and renewal queue as a security company, on the same roster.
Can staff book on at an unstaffed station?
Yes. The app records the time and position wherever the person is; a missed check call there shows on the live monitor.
