A plant runs on a pattern: three shifts, a weekend crew, a maintenance window, and a training matrix that says who may run which line. BOOK ON plans the pattern per plant and line, records attendance from the app, holds the training and competence records per operator with their expiry dates, keeps the night shift’s lone workers on check calls, and feeds the hours to payroll without a clerk retyping a clock card.

What a plant needs
Shift patterns
Days, lates and nights planned per plant and line, copied forward and changed per shift for overtime and shutdowns.
Attendance
Operators book on and off from the app; late starts and absences show to the shift supervisor on the live monitor.
Training matrix
Who is trained on which line, machine or procedure, with certificates and refresher dates held per operator.
Night shift welfare
Check calls for lone operators and maintenance staff, the Alone filter and the position map for a large site.
Incidents and near misses
Typed reports with photos from the floor, reviewed by a manager, with corrective actions recorded.
Hours to payroll
Timesheets built from the book-on records with shift premiums as per-shift rates; payroll by period with payslips.
A shift on the line, step by step
- The pattern is on the rota by plant and line; the supervisor sees who is due and whether they are trained for the line.
- Operators book on from the app; the supervisor sees the headcount against the plan before the line starts.
- A gap is filled from the staff list, filtered by the training the line needs.
- Near misses and quality issues go in as typed reports with photos.
- Book off closes the shift; hours and premiums feed payroll.

Records an auditor asks for
Quality and safety audits ask who was on shift, whether they were trained for the task and what happened when something went wrong. BOOK ON’s attendance reports answer the first, the training matrix and certificate records the second, and the event reports with their review history the third. Agency and contract labour runs through the subcontractor register with the same records. Machine-level production data, kiosk clock-ins and integration with an ERP are not part of BOOK ON and are confirmed during onboarding where exports are needed.

Manufacturing questions
Can operators clock in at a terminal instead of a phone?
Attendance is recorded from the app with the operator’s position; a fixed terminal or kiosk is confirmed during onboarding.
Does BOOK ON hold the training matrix?
Yes. Training and certificates are recorded per operator with dates, and the matrix shows who is trained on what.
How are shift premiums handled?
Pay rates are set per shift, so nights, weekends and bank holidays carry their own rate into the timesheet and payroll.
Can agency staff be included?
Yes. The agency sits on the subcontractor register, its workers appear on the rota with a filter, and their hours are checked against the agency invoice.
Does it connect to our ERP?
Exports and integrations are confirmed during onboarding; attendance and payroll reports are available as Excel, CSV and PDF.
